AWARD WINNING BEAUTY STUDENT ACHIEVES TEACHING DREAM
A Bury College Beauty student is pursuing her dream career of working in education after achieving a teaching qualification through Bury College University Centre.
25 year old Aimee Haslam began her Bury College career in 2008 when she enrolled onto the Beauty Therapy Diploma where she completed her Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications before progressing onto the Level 3 Complementary Therapy diploma. Displaying a clear talent for the subject, Aimee excelled in her studies and was entered into the 2011 World Skills Aromatherapy competition. There Aimee claimed Gold in both the regional and national competitions.
Having enjoyed her studies at Bury College so much, Aimee felt inspired to follow in the footsteps of her tutors and further her studies to help her secure a teaching position. Aimee said, “My tutors at Bury College have been amazing and they inspired me to go into teaching and give other young women the confidence that they gave to me.”
Upon completion of her Level 3 qualification, Aimee, from Radcliffe, chose to progress onto Bury College University Centre and undertake her foundation degree in Complementary Therapy. Aimee then completed her Certificate in Education part-time over two years and combined her studies with practical placements. This involved working in the Bury College Beauty department where she planned and delivered lessons and completed observations.
Aimee firmly credits her experiences at both Bury College and Bury College University Centre for moulding her into the confident and qualified teacher that she is today.
Aimee added, “I can’t recommend Bury College enough, the tutors have helped me as a student and the mentoring I have received has been amazing. Studying at Bury College University Centre was perfect for me as I received personalised support which helped me to achieve my full potential.”
