ALUMNI STUDENT PAVES THE WAY FOR TEACHING IN THAILAND
A Bury College University Centre graduate is undertaking a life changing career teaching in Thailand.
23 year old Annie Masters-Parmar from Little Lever is set to travel to North East Thailand to teach English to school pupils. Annie is near completion of her Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) qualification after completing 100 hours of coursework. In order to achieve the full qualification, Annie is required to complete a placement overseas. Annie is very much looking forward to her one month trip to Thailand and seeing where her future takes her to next.
Annie began her studies at a Bury College in 2010 when she completed a Diploma in Media Studies. Keen to further her studies within the creative industry, Annie progressed onto Bury College University Centre to complete the Events Management degree. During her time on the course Annie completed valuable work experience at a variety of events including Ramsbottom Festival and popular music festival Kendal Calling.
Upon completion of her Events Management degree Annie applied for Camp America where she secured a place on an International Sports Training Camp. Based in Pennsylvania, USA, Annie undertook a range of duties including registration procedures, reception duties and liaising closely with children and parents.
Annie said, “I am really grateful that my Events Management degree has lead me opportunities to work all over the world. I have been able to incorporate teaching with events which I am really happy about.”
Once Annie has successfully completed her one month placement in Thailand, she is looking forward to achieving her long-term career plan of teaching in Japan or China.
Annie added, “My studies at Bury College prepared me well for my career. I had great support from my tutors and they helped me to find work experience which helped shape my career progression.”
