Biography

 

Jennifer is the programme lead and teaches on our Foundation Degrees for Early Childhood Studies and Teaching Assistants, and the BA Working with Children and Families. She has previously worked in both early years and primary school settings as well as teaching on a Foundation Degree for Leeds Beckett University. Jennifer has recently completed her MA in Childhood Studies and Early Years, focussing on the provision of funded places for two-year olds for her research.

 

She is currently a member of TACTYC, the Association for Professional Development in Early Years, and has previously represented the Private, Voluntary and Independent early years sector on Bury School’s Forum, helping to devise the local authority’s Single Funding Formula for early years settings in Bury. Jennifer is currently working towards assessment for Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

Research interest and publications

Jennifer is currently undertaking research with FE students focused on the design of assessments, with a view to improving their independence in study. This also links to her work within the FE department in supporting students in preparation for HE study.
